LEAGUE RULES

There has been a lot of confusion & uproar the last 24 hours due to some changes I made to two rules.  I would like to clarify some things about those changes to make sure everyone in the league understands why the changes were made & what the final outcome will be.  Please read below regarding these two changes:

RULE CHANGE #1
 -  TRADE DEADLINE:  I made the change to the trade deadline due to the fact that there was ABSOLUTELY NO trade activity this week at the deadline.  So my thinking here was that maybe some of you forgot, or were not even thinking about it.  I made the change to this coming Thursday @ 11:59pm to let everyone get one last shot at a last minute trade.  If everyone is ok with the trade deadline passing from this week then I will have no problem setting the trade deadline back to Nov. 19th.  One argument to disagree w/ the change to the 26th was a team who is out of it helping a team still in the playoff hunt.  I can assure you that would not happen b/c I am the one who approves trades.  & any trade I think may benefit only one team I will decline or bring it up to the league to vote.  PLEASE LEAVE YOUR CHOICE FOR THE TRADE DEADLINE DATE IN THE COMMENTS SECTION OF THIS POST.

RULE CHANGE #2
 -  MAXIMUM # OF MOVES ALLOWED:  This is the rule that has caused all the uproar.  At the beginning of last season I installed this rule due to a team having over 100 add/drops in the 2008 season.  I put a max of 30 moves w/ a $1 penalty for any move over that.  Well last year no manager went over the 30 moves.  I was basically going to enforce this rule again this year but yahoo gave the option to actually set a maximum this year & I set it at 30.  In doing so, most of the current teams believed that 30 was the absolute max w/ no chance to go over it & thus eliminating the $1 penalty.  It was my fault that I did not clarify which way the rule would be enforced.  This caused a lot of the teams to strategize their season plans around an absolute max of 30 add/drops, where some other teams thought that the $1 penalty above 30 was still in effect.  I spoke w/ one of these managers last night which caused me to change the max to unlimited w/ $1 penalty.  Today however, I spoke to one manager who planned around the 30 max, & received an email from another & they both had the same argument.  The $1 penalty is not harsh enough to stop anyone from going above the 30 max & it was not fair to the teams who strategized & planned around the absolute max of 30 moves.  So today, and for the rest of the year, the Maximum Allowable Moves (add/drops) per team will be 30.  At the end of the season I will revisit this rule, take your opinions, & then make the necessary changes at that time to go into effect for next year.

I want to personally apologize to all the teams for the confusion & uproar these changes have caused.  It is my responsibility as the commissioner to make sure all the rules are explained fully & properly before each season.  I promise to make sure things of this nature do not occur going forward.  I want to thank you all for the input I have received in regarding the changes & the league.  I think one way to combat these situations from occurring in the future is to have an end of the season get together (championship sunday at my house perhaps) to watch the games, enjoy the championship day, good food & drinks, to discuss everything involving the league for next season, or at the draft next year an hour before the draft to discuss these things.  PLEASE LEAVE ANY IDEAS REGARDING THIS OPTION IN THE COMMENTS FIELD OF THIS POST.
