POTENTIAL ADDITIONS TO LEAGUE RULES

So I have a couple of more rule ideas to possibly put in place for our league this season & going forward.  Please read the following rule ideas below, & post comments/votes for any or all.  Thanks!
1)  DRAFT ORDER CHANGE - I was thinking about how some of the team managers are against teams possibly "Throwing Their Season" for a crack at the #1 draft pick.  So to combat teams from "Throwing Their Season", how about we set it up that the Winner of the Consolation Bracket Playoffs gets the #1 Draft Pick in the next years draft?  After that, the order would then mirror the NFL Draft (i.e. #2 pick - 9th place to #10 pick - 1st place).  This would make it so that every team in the Consolation Bracket has an Incentive to play to "WIN" in the Consolation Bracket.

2)  ANTI-THROWING RULE -  I propose that to keep teams from throwing the rest of their Consolation or Championship Bracket games after being knocked out of the chance to win the #1 Draft Pick or the Championship, those teams are not allowed to ADD/DROP players anymore unless to replace an injured/regular player to improve their team for the next game.  This will also keep teams from unloading their teams to add players on the Free Agent List (i.e. injured players) just for the hopes of possibly using them as "Keepers" for the next year.  ***THIS WILL ONLY APPLY ONCE A TEAM IS KNOCKED OUT OF CONTENTION TO WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP OR CONSOLATION BRACKET***

3)  PLAYOFF SEEDING - I propose to re-seed the Championship Playoff Bracket after the first round.  This makes it so that the #1 seed will always play the lowest seed left in the Championship Playoff Bracket (Current NFL Playoff Seeding).  This is to follow the NFL Playoff Format & not penalize the #1 seed with possibly having to play a higher seed team then the #2 seed.

  3. ***** I also updated the "League Information" tab on the home page to reflect the new rules & added "Pick Six = -6 Points" to the stat category *****

  4. Did we vote on the "pick 6=-6" change in points? No changes without a vote.
I don't think anyone would "throw in the towel" and if anyone did to improve their draft position it is their call except with players on yahoo's do not cut list- which prevents teams from getting rid of their stars through add/drops,,,,as far as anyone making their line up weaker to throw a game- lets vote ona weekly high point incentive so that even the stinky teams have a chance to win back some money even if they are out of the playoffs....the league vote on trades will prevent anyone from loading a team and the yahoo list prevents the dumping of star players...if someone is manipulating their own line up then it is their own conscience that they have to deal with...TOM

  5. I can make changes to the league w/out votes whenever I want. I am the commissioner. But to make it more of an involved league I CHOOSE to have votes for certain rules. In terms of the stat categories, I set them up when I started the league back in 2003. Yes, I did add the -6 points to QB's for throwing Pick 6's. If there is an overwhelming majority of teams in the league against that scoring stat then I will probably get rid of it. But as of right now it is included in the scoring stats.

  6. Dropping Star Players on the Can't Cut List is not what the above rule is talking about. Its about a team dropping a player who gets put on IR due to a season ending injury & then at the end of the year another manager picking him up just to use him as a keeper for the next year. & just b/c there might be weekly incentives for high point totals doesn't mean someone won't throw a game or season. But you made some good points & they will be taken into consideration.

  8. I'm cool with all the proposed changes except an INT being -6. It should remain the same as last year, which I think was -2.
