LEAGUE/SEASON UPDATE

We have reached the 3/4 mark of the regular season.  With 10 weeks down & the Trade Deadline passed we only 3 weeks left in the regular season & every team still mathematically eligible for the playoffs.  Only 4 teams are currently in trouble of missing the playoffs:
#7 JERSEY WAHOOS (4-6)
#8 PINEAPPLE EXPRESS (4-6)
#9 RODNROLN (3-7)
#10 TEAM PREMIER (3-7)

A loss this week will pretty much eliminate RodnRoln & Team Premier, and make it very tough for Jersey Wahoos & Pineapple Express to make the playoffs.  They would need to both win their last 2 games & get a lot of help from the other teams in the form of losses.

This year the league saw an unprecedented amount of activity at the Trade Deadline.  Only Bulldogs, CowTown Rodeo Queen, & Just Bring It sat out of the trading action.  The ability to trade future draft picks seem to be the driving force behind the numerous trades between teams.  Trailer Trash & Jersey Wahoos ony took part in one trade, while Fist Pumpers, RodnRoln, Team Premier, Pineapple Express, & TomBrady's JockStrap (Soon to be re-named) all took part in two different trades.  Below is a snapshot of each trade starting from the first to the last:

KEEPER RULES & JAMAAL CHARLES

At this years draft, we all voted unanimously to change the Keeper Rules so that NO PLAYER can be kept for more than 3 consecutive years, no matter the manager who owns him or the length of time owned.  Everyone agreed to this.  We also agreed to one exception: Trailer Trash & Jamaal Charles.  We all agreed that Trailer Trash, having traded for Charles last year under the old rules would be aloud to have Charles as a possible keeper after this year, and would be the ONLY manager to be able to keep him.  If Charles were traded or dropped this year, no other manager could keep him.  The main reason for these two votes was to keep a situation from the one that is going on right now from happening.  Jersey Wahoos was the team that traded Charles to Trailer Trash.  If we allow Charles to be kept by anyone this year, then Jersey Wahoos would in effect be able to keep Charles 4 years in a row.  Then to be fair, we will need to allow every player in their last year of being kept this season to be able to be kept for a 4th year.  The exception made was more for the manager, Trailer Trash, then for the player, Charles. So as the commissioner of this league, & to make sure I maintain fairness within the rules of this League, I must enforce the above rules & not allow Charles to be kept after this season by anyone other than Trailer Trash.

WEEK 5 PREVIEW

The season is just past the 1/4 mark.  The standings are looking pretty interesting.  In the BUD LIGHT division only one team has a winning record.  TomBrady's JockStrap (4-0) is sitting on the top of the Division & League as the only undefeated team left.  Sitting at 2-2, Fist Pumpers & Pineapple Express are #'s 2 & 3 in the Division & #'s 3 & 4 in the League overall.  Pineapple Express is on a 2 game win streak after starting the year 0-2.  Rounding out the Division is Jersey Wahoos & Team Premier both at 1-3.  They are both on 2 game losing streaks.  The interesting thing is both of those teams finished in the top 4 last year.  The MILLER LITE division looks very similar to the BUD LIGHT division.  CowTown Rodeo Queen is in 1st place with a 3-1 record & riding a 3 game win streak.  She has also posted the highest points total in League History by scoring 192 points against Trailer Trash in week 2.  In 2nd, 3rd, & 4th are Just Bring It, Bulldogs, & Trailer Trash all sitting 2-2.  Bulldogs are on a 2 game losing streak after starting 2-0, while Trailer Trash is riding a 2 game win streak after that beatdown in week 2, leaving them 0-2.  Rounding out the Division riding a 3 game losing streak is the reigning/defending champs RodnRoln at 1-3.  With this week the start of "BYE WEEKS", on to the Matchup Previews:

***CRISIS AVERTED***

In one of the most hotly contested & watched labor disputes in American history, the Commissioner & Team Managers of the Big Money Fantasy Football League agreed to a League Draft Date, Time, & Place.  The agreement came at the last minute before the deadline league commissioner Carlos Ayala put in place to lock-out the managers & thus canceling the 2011 Fantasy Football Season.  Thousands of Big Money Fantasy Football League Employees breathed a huge sigh of relief that they will not lose their jobs.  Stan Johnson, the Head of Stadium Maintenance for the Sparks MD RodnRoln's said, "I am extremely happy & relieved they came to an agreement.  I have 10 kids, my wife, her sister & mother, & an ex-wife I have to support.  I don't know what I would've done if I lost my job"!  Another employee, Vincenzo Baggio the Head of Concessions for the Parkville MD Fist Pumpers, said "I'm glad they got a deal done.  I don't how I would have paid for my Hair Product, Tanning & Gym memberships, & gold necklaces"!

League Commissioner, Carlos Ayala, had this to say, "It was a long & grueling negotiation, but for the sake of our fans, employees, & the league, we got a deal done.  I really didn't know if we were going to get one done.  I was basically hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.  Thankfully, the cooler, more rational negotiating prevailed.  All league operations will go forward w/ no interruption & the draft will be held & the season will be played as planned."

So a crisis has indeed been averted.  So now that we can get back to football, the draft is set. Tune in to ESPN & NBC (for the first time on a regular cable network in primetime).

POSSIBLE 2011 LEAGUE LOCKOUT

***EXTRA EXTRA...READ ALL ABOUT IT***
DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF NOT BEING ABLE TO COMPROMISE ON A DRAFT DATE, THE COMMISSIONER IS ON THE VERGE OF LOCKING OUT THE TEAM MANAGERS OF THE BIG MONEY FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE FOR THE 2011 SEASON.

"I have been in talks with some of the managers, but unfortunately we are far apart on an agreement for a draft date", says League Commissioner Carlos Ayala.  "Without an agreement in the next couple of days to a week, I will have no other choice but to lock out the managers from all league activities for possibly the whole 2011 season.  It is a shame we are so far apart on this issue & it will do nothing but hurt all of our fans & the game of Fantasy Football in the long run.  I feel we are acting like congress during the last couple of weeks of the debt ceiling debate!"

All attempts to contact some of the league managers for comment have gone unanswered.  Hopefully the Commissioner & the Team Managers can come to an agreement that suits everyone.  Meetings have been set up for the next two days in Baltimore, MD.  If an agreement can't be reached, GOD help the USA & its economy.  A full 6 months of no Big Money Fantasy Football League is going to put thousands of hard working Americans out of a job & could cause a huge blow to economic growth; Possibly starting a recession worse than 2008.

P.S. This is a joke.  All in good fun!

Currently we are on a 1st & 2nd place payout only.  80%-20%.  I would like to know, if we do vote to increase the buy-in, if you all would like to add something to the league pay-out.  Possibly the Regular Season Champ, Regular Season Points Champ, 3rd place???  You guys let me know in the comments what you think.  I'll put your choices to a vote a little later.  Thanks

TRADE APPROVAL/VETO'S

This one is pretty simple.  Last year I controlled the power to approve/veto any & all trades based on what I felt was fair to both teams or not fair to one team.  There was a lot of push back on some trades I vetoed.  So now we are going to vote on the way trades can be approved or vetoed.  Please vote on the option you favor below:

WAIVER WIRE PRIORITY

In the 2009 League year I allowed Yahoo to set the Waiver Wire Priority every week.  Last year I took it upon myself to manage the Waiver Wire Priority.  Yahoo resets the Priority ONLY when a team picks up a player off waivers.  Regular add/drops & trades do not figure into their resets.  Last year, after some complaints to the 2009 season system, I reset the Priority after EVERY move.  That included add/drops & trades.  Again there were some complaints to this method as well.  So now it is going to a vote.  Please choose the option you would like the league to use this year going forward:

MAX # OF MOVES PER LEAGUE YEAR

Last year this was a big issue!  Currently we are operating the league based on a 30 move max.  In past seasons we have had unlimited moves.  I set the max move limit last year to 30 because in 2008 & 2009 the average # of moves per team, throwing out the highest moves team & lowest moves team, was 30 moves.  There has been discussion of going back to unlimited.  There has been talk of keeping it 30.  And there has been talk of charging a fee ($15 - $20) for every move above 30.  So below are the choices for the Max # of Moves Per League Year:

DRAFT ORDER

Starting last year in concurrence with the Keeper League the draft order is the same way the NFL (A Keeper League in itself) conducts its draft. Based on last years final standings: Worst team 1st - Best team 10th, then it follows the snake pattern into the second round: Best team 1st - Worst team 10th.  I believe this draft order would be in the best interest of the league because it will keep the league even on a competitive basis & not allow the best teams to Keep their best players & add another TOP 10% of the league player.  Some of you have voiced the concern that we should reward the champion & the top teams with the draft order going in the exact opposite from the NFL draft order.  So the first round would be Best team 1st - Worst team 10th, then snakes around starting in round two.  I feel as the winners get more than enough reward with the cash payout, championship trophy, & bragging rights.  But some of you don't.  So with out further ado, below are the options for Draft Order:

LEAGUE DUES & LEAGUE EXPENSES

There was some good discussion around the $$$ amount of the league dues (buy-in).  Currently we are at $50 per team.  Some people have asked about raising it to $100.  Also it was brought to my attention that we should maybe add in a LEAGUE EXPENSE FEE for running the league, going towards season ending awards, & food/drinks for draft/awards meeting.  The last couple of years I have been paying for the food @ the Draft Party & last year I added in the awards party & paid for the awards & Championship Trophy.  Adding in the League Expense Fee could take care of all of these costs.  So please read below for the choices & post your votes in the comments section.

2011 LEAGUE INFO

Hopefully by now, Everyone has signed back up for the league.  In the next few posts, I will be putting a couple of the League rules to a vote.  I need EVERYONE to post a comment for each rule with your vote on the rule.  Thanks for your cooperation & hopefully they will get a deal done soon & we will be back to a regular fantasy football schedule.

I am planning on trying to set up the Live Draft for September 6th or 7th @ around 7pm.  So please make note of these two dates as possible draft days.  If there is a shortened season then the date will be updated.
